My beagle mix loves this toy but he is a strong chewer and the first day he almost had the whales flipper chewed off. I do not let him have it all the time, only for fetch. I took a shot on this toy but it wasn't tough enough for my dog. My little guy is very hard on toys so it may work for you but I am still looking for something tough enough for him.

Ace is very picky about his toys, and he takes his whale everywhere. For the first week, he even slept with it. We call it fishy toy, cuz whale toy is just so uncomfortable to say, and we can ask him where his fishy toy is, and he takes off and goes and gets him. He's a little bit "harder" than I expected, and Ace typically likes super soft toys, but that hasn't deterred his love of this toy. He still doesn't like it quite as much as he likes his "Ducky", but "Fishy" pulls a close second.
