MLB Baseball - Milwaukee Brewers

The city of Milwaukee was founded from a group of settlements that were spread across the area that is now eastern Wisconsin. One of the initial originators of Milwaukee was Solomon Juneau; he was an explorer from Canada. His son went into the family business and founded Juneau Alaska.

The city has had two major league baseball teams throughout its sports history and both teams came from other cities originally. The Braves played for Milwaukee after leaving Boston they later moved to Atlanta. The Brewers began as the Seattle Pilots before they became the beloved team they are today.

Milwaukee has experienced notoriety as the most overweight city and the drunkest at one time. The city features Captain Frederick Pabst Mansion a historic place to visit. It was built by successful sea captain and world famous beer tycoon Frederick. The Basilica of St. Josaphat is located in the Lincoln Village area of Milwaukee. One of the largest copper domes throughout the world is located on the church. It was constructed in 1901 and is a top attraction in the city.

Within the world of sports the city is famous for tailgating parties before every Brewers baseball game. The team won the American League pennant in 1982 and in 1998 they switched leagues allowing teams in Arizona and Florida to expand. They are the only team in history to have participated in four out the six Major League divisions currently in place.

Sports are important to Milwaukeeans and Brewers fans come out in force for the team?s baseball games. The Brewers only made to the World Series once and lost to the St. Louis Cardinals. They became the wildcard team in 2008 participating in the National League. Unfortunately they lost to Philadelphia Phillies who went on to become the World Series winning team.
