Boston is located on the eastern seaboard in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. With a population of over 600 000; Boston is the twentieth largest city in the nation. Settled in 1630 by a group of Puritans, Boston is rich in history and many major events have occurred in this city such as the American Revolution and the Boston Tea Party. The Freedom Trail is a must do while in Boston it is a self-guided tour that covers 16 historical sites. Visitors can follow red bricks and painted lines that will take them through the city showcasing America's rich history.
Boston has one major airport Logan airport located in east Boston. Getting around Boston is easy; walking trails bicycle trails subways buses and trains. Currently there are applications that you can download to your smart phone which will show current times and locations of the city's public transport system. Boston also has a boat/ferry system which offers great views of the harbor.
Culture and education is a very important part of the Boston community. Boston has numerous museums and theaters most notable to enjoy is the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Ballet. Within the city limits there are numerous colleges and universities such as Boston University and Suffolk University. Across the Charles River in the Cambridge area hosts two of the most prestigious schools in the nation; Harvard and MIT.
Boston is a town that enjoys its sports. Boston Red Sox Boston Bruins Boston Celtics and New England Patriots are some of the more popular teams in the area. The Boston Red Sox have won seven World Series and twelve AL pennants. The team plays in the famous Fenway Park which is the nation's oldest sports arena. The New England Patriots have won three Super Bowl titles; they play in Gillette stadium which is a short drive south of Boston. The Boston Celtics have won seventeen NBA titles and play in TD garden where the Boston Bruins also play. Boston also boasts a lacrosse Australian football softball and a soccer team as well.
