New York City boasts five boroughs Queens being the largest in the area and coming in second in population rankings. Queens is an historic city established in 1898 and has played a large part in the American Revolution. However it is fully immersed in modern times. Two of New York's airports are located in Queens; LaGuardia and John F. Kennedy International Airport. Transportation is readily available making it quick and easy to travel in and around Queens. Long Island Rail Road provides services to Long Island Manhattan and Brooklyn. The New York Subway system has seven main lines with over eighty stations. Queens also has three major interstate highways systems in which inter-city buses run upon.

Because of the vast amount of nationalities living in Queens there are numerous styles of restaurants to choose from. Mexican Jamaican Filipino Italian Greek and Chinese are just a few of the cuisines offered. Most notably is Roosevelt Avenue in which many of these restaurants are located. Queens was the hub of jazz music in the 1940s and continues to be the heart of many musical genres such as hip-hop and punk rock. Queens has several museums performing art centers and a botanical garden.

In New York City sports are a very important part of the culture; the borough of Queens boasts one of the most famous baseball teams in the nation the New York Mets. The New York Mets baseball team was established in 1962 under a MLB expansion. In 1964 they began to play in the famous Shea stadium until 2009 they moved into the Citi stadium which was built adjacent to Shea. They have won five National East titles four National League pennants and two World Series titles. Famous baseball hall of famers have played for the New York Mets over the years. They include Yogi Berra Nolan Ryan Tom Seaver and Willie Mays. The Mets have held records for attendance beating out the New York Yankees for several years. The are other sports that are played in the Queens as well; such sports are tennis soccer and horse racing.
